Produced by Brian Slagel. Haunting the Chapel Lyrics. The holy cross, symbol of lies Intimidate the lives of Christian born Speak of death, the words of hate Anticipation grows amongst the dead Hell has seen the priests attempt To bring forth their lord of the cross Strike of twelve, raise the dead The chapel comes under attack. Haunting the Chapel is the third track on the EP of the same name and has been performed live over 100 times since 1984. Its lyrics tell a classic Slayer horror story: demons and damned souls invade a church and kill and corrupt those inside. Haunting the Chapel" Track Info. Written By Kerry King & Jeff Hanneman. Slayer 1984 Haunting the Chapel Metal Blade Records. This CD, while only four songs long, is a great little record, with what I feel is the best Slayer song ever, Chemical Warfare. History Slayer had just released their debut album, Show No Mercy. This band, composed of Tom Araya (vocals/bass), Kerry King (guitars), Jeff Hanneman (guitars), and DAve Lombardo (drums), were the fastest and heaviest of the thrash bands yet. In their early days, they all donned huge spikes and nails along with corpse paint and the like.

Performer: Slayer Album: Haunting The Chapel Label: Roadrunner Records.

The holy cross Symbol of lies Intimitade the lives of Christian born Speak of death The words of hate Anticipation grows amongst the dead Hell has seen The priests attempt To bring forth their lord of the cross Strike of twelve Raise the dead The chapel comes under attack. The ghosts of sin Torment the priests Their altar will soon be destroyed Heaven's palace Turning black The church now belongs to the dead Blackened magic Infest with lust Lucifer rules supreme The crystal ball shows unknown fate The last thing that's heard is the screams

Prior to Haunting The Chapel Slayer had released one studio album entitled Show No Mercy, a promising debut that was a far cry from the style of music they captured on this EP but was still more than listenable and a great album in its own right. Haunting the Chapel stepped their game up and was based around dense tremolo picking and lightning fast drumming with a very evil sound to it and Tom Araya's demonic vocals are captured in their most aggressive state. Three unstoppable juggernauts - 97%. Gutterscream, April 21st, 2011 Written based on this version: 1984, 12" vinyl, Metal Blade Records.

Paul Schwarz Opener of the album but on the "live album". So it's Slayer playing live in a studio w a bunch of idiots brought in to shout and make it sound like a gig. It's SLAYER in 1984 LIVE in a STUDIO with no time to POLISH. Think MF's recordings of Evil/CotP/SF for the BBC. Doubt Slayer got 9 hours to "polish" with overdubs.

Haunting the Chapel is an EP released by American thrash metal band Slayer in 1984 through Metal Blade and Enigma Records. Slayer's debut album Show No Mercy became Metal Blade's highest selling, leading to producer Brian Slagel wanting to release an EP. Recorded in Hollywood the recording process proved difficult when recording drums in a studio without carpet, although it resulted in drummer Dave Lombardo meeting Gene Hoglan who was to become an influence in his drumming style and speed.
