The discovery of the Hawkwind has led to more wild speculation than any of the mysteries of space that we have so far encountered. Even our computers no longer speak with any certainty of the past. This is the last entry in the Hawkwind log. It was not dated. I have seen the Tao and travelled the middle way.

Published on. October 8, 2018. It’s hard to imagine the world of rock’n’roll without Hawkwind’s ornery presence. While guitarist/vocalist Dave Brock has remained the only constant, legendary figures such as Ginger Baker, sci-fi/fantasy writer Michael Moorcock and Motörhead founder Lemmy have all passed through its ranks. Even now, the band’s detractors still dismiss them as merely a hippie aberration, but while this seemingly invincible.

View Hawkwind's page on Rhapsody. And Pink Floyd still take the sweepstakes in the rock race for space, but hold onto yer Buck Rogers beanies, kinder, because Hawkwind are coming up fast  .

В апреле 2006 года журнал Classic Rock поместил этот релиз на в списке The 100 Greatest British Rock Albums, заметив в комментарии, что именно с этим релизом в чарты вошло звучание спейс-рока

Notes

This release has an innovative 8-page, 3-fold die-cut heavy card sleeve. Opened out, it forms a 'T' shape. This shape is printed black & white on inside and full-color on reverse.

When the lower page is folded up (to contain the liner) the sleeve then takes the form of a 6-page triptych - with the die-cut tab & slot linking together at the center. When locked 'closed' the liner/vinyl can still be inserted via the top opening.

The back cover has a blurred shot of Stacia dancing on-stage, with text that encapsulates the essence of the work:
"Technicians of Space Ship Earth
This is Your Captain Speaking
Your Captain is Dead"

[The inside spread photos include members of The Pink Fairies].

The package also contains an A4, 24-page 'Log Book', packed with the minutiae of the band's 'flight' through space & time.

Produced at Olympic Studios, Barnes. Track B2 first recorded at Air Studios.
