Barking is the eighth studio album by British electronic group Underworld, released on 2 September 2010. The lead single, "Scribble", produced with Welsh drum and bass producer High Contrast, was released on 28 June 2010.
Barking Dog is a dark and heavy standout track on the album, sang in the first-person by a suicidal narrator. It seems as if the protagonist has already committed the act, singing as a ghost in a continuous loop. During the recording of this album, Sarah Barthel’s sister had killed herself. In a 2016 interview, the band revealed that while this song was already planned, this tragic event had a major influence on not only this song, but the entire album.

In this list of 10 Songs Featuring Barking Dogs, we give biscuits to great tunes made all the better by K-9 backing vocals. On his new "covers" album of Soul Coughing re-recordings, Mike Doughty recasts his old band's ‘Monster Man’ as a little less growly of a tune, using a nicer dog-bark sample as a sort of mammalian version of a talking drum. Move uh-side, and let the dog go through, let the dog go through through. Wait for i. ait for i. t the 3:28 mark on this rap-rock version of the George Gershwin classic ‘Summertime,' one of the chillest songs of the '90s, the dogs start barking.
In a musical landscape where the past is constantly recycled and reshaped into something new, and album like Black Dog Barking is like a safe haven for hard rock purists, offering up a safe place for people to wear jean jackets and pump their fists without irony or judgment.
