We're Only in It for the Money is the third studio album by the Mothers of Invention. Released on March 4, 1968, on Verve Records, it was subsequently remixed and re-recorded by Frank Zappa and reissued by Rykodisc in 1986. As with the band's previous two albums, We're Only in It for the Money is a concept album, and satirizes left and right-wing politics, particularly the hippie subculture, as well as the Beatles' album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Despite some specific references, the first-half suite is still wickedly funny, since its targets remain immediately recognizable. The second half shows where his sympathies lie, with character sketches of Zappa's real-life freak acquaintances, a carefree utopia in "Take Your Clothes Off When You Dance," and the strident, unironic protest "Mother People

They were called the Mothers of Invention, led by one of the world's best composer of the past decades: Frank Zappa. They wanted the people to realise the modern commercial hippiedom was totally wrong and naive. as his songs are quite catchy here and there on the album, although they're definitively real Zappa gems. For me, it really earns the 10/10. PS: Sorry if my english is rather bad, it's not my mother tongue.

The Mothers of Invention were an American rock band from California. Formed in 1964, their work is marked by the use of sonic experimentation, innovative album art, and elaborate live shows. Originally an R&B band called the Soul Giants, the band's first lineup included Ray Collins, David Coronado, Ray Hunt, Roy Estrada and Jimmy Carl Black. Frank Zappa was asked to take over as the guitarist following a fight between Collins and Coronado, the band's original saxophonist/leader.

We'll have things fixed soon. This album is Frank Zappa and the Mothers' scathing critique of 60s culture (and counterculture). The album cover, as it was originally designed, was a parody of the famous Beatles concept album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. We’re Only in It for the Money Q&A. Producer Frank Zappa.
