Hymn is the twelfth studio album by English soprano Sarah Brightman and first since 2013's Dreamchaser. The five-year gap between both studio albums marks Brightman's longest break between studio releases. This album marks Brightman's ninth studio collaboration with producer Frank Peterson. The album was released on 9 November 2018, entering at No. 1 on both the Billboard Classical Crossover Albums and overall Classical Albums, making Brightman the female artist with the most No. 1s in both charts.

Peterson reminded Brightman that audiences flocked to her because of the beauty in her voice and that, after mounting a technically complex tour filled with elaborate visuals and effects behind the science-minded Dreamchaser, a return to something simpler in nature, something spiritual and emotionally connected, might be just the thing to ease the inertia she was feeling. I said, ‘Okay, you went the science route, let’s try something different,’ Peterson says.

In this album, Sarah can be heard gliding seamlessly between classical adaptations, ’60s anthems and contemporary pop tracks in English, Italian, Spanish, French, even Russian. In the hands of conventional artists, Handel’s Solo Con Te would never co-exist on the same album with the trip-hoppy This Love, much less be adjacent to it. At times, the transition between Sarah’s pop and opera voices is made within a single song, like on the US version of Dvorak’s La Luna. Conversely, Sarah uses her full operatic voice throughout the European version of La Luna
