The year 2001 was the 30-th anniversary of "Concerto Grosso №1" and signore De Scalzi with friends find the best way to celebrate this event. Maurizio Salvi, ex New Trolls keyboardist (he also directed the orchestra and played keyboards), and Vittorio De Scalzi, New Trolls founder member, made orchestrations and arrangements for this record. Both Concerti Grossi, as well as tracks 5, 10, 11, played with Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino. And I can say songs "In St. Peter's Day" and "Una miniera" suit to the mood of Concerti perfectly.
New Trolls are an Italian progressive rock band, known for their fusion of rock and classical music. Their history is filled with line-up changes, band name changes and struggles between band members. The band was founded around the mid-1960s, when musicians Vittorio De Scalzi, Nico Di Palo, Mauro Chiarugi, Giorgio D'Adamo and Gianni Belleno decided to form a band called New Trolls, after the name of the previous band of one of them, The Trolls.

Along the years several members regrouped under different monikers (New Trolls Atomic System, Vittorio De Scalzi - La storia dei New Trolls, Ibis, Il Mito New Trolls, La Leggenda New Trolls, Uno Tempore). Unique in the history of Italian progressive music, NEW TROLLS were leaders and were for a time the top band in Italy. In 1973, NEW TROLLS split into two camps, the hard-rocking IBIS and the symphonic-oriented NEW TROLLS ATOMIC SYSTEM. In 1971, the TROLLS released their greatest album "Concerto Grosso No. 1" that's still recognized as one of the most important Italian rock releases ever made. This album was to take them in a new direction. It was the first effort in Italy to fuse rock music with classical treatments. 1972 was the year in which NEW TROLLS became the producers of a mature music.
