Drum Corps Associates (DCA) is a governing body for modern all-age, or senior, drum and bugle corps in North America. DCA sanctions competitions, certifies adjudicators, maintains and enforces rules of competition, and sponsors an annual World Championship during Labor Day weekend. DCA is viewed as a counterpart to Drum Corps International (DCI), which governs junior drum corps in North America

The Sunrisers Drum and Bugle Corps is an all-age, or senior, drum corps from Long Island, New York. The corps is a member of Drum Corps Associates (DCA), and as of 2018 competes in Open Class. The Sunrisers began as the Marine Memorial Drum and Bugle Corps of Nassau County in 1950. Originally a junior corps, the corp was reorganized as a "senior" corps in 1953.

During Labor Day Weekend, Drum Corps Associates (DCA) Open Class corps compete to earn the title of DCA Open Class World Champion. The championships consist of 2 rounds (Prelims and Finals) held on 2 consecutive nights (the Saturday and Sunday nights of Labor Day weekend). All corps compete at Prelims, with the top 10 Open Class and top 4 Class A corps competing at Finals. As of the conclusion of the 2017 competitive season, the Buccaneers, Bushwackers, Caballeros, Hurricanes, Cadets2, Minnesota Brass, Skyliners, and Sunrisers remain in active Open Class competition. The Brigadiers, Empire Statesmen, and Westshoremen are inactive.

American Legion National - 1949, 1950, American Legion World Open - 1963, DCA Open Class - 1966, 1971, 1975, DCA Class A - 1999, 2002. The Skyliners are sponsored by American Legion Post in Jessup, Pennsylvania and American Legion Post in New York City Contents. 2 Show Summaries 1950-Present. 3 DCA Championship Seasons. The Skyliners formed in 1945 as the New York Skyliners as a drum and bugle corps function of two American Legion posts in New York City.
