What's Next to the Moon is a solo album by Mark Kozelek, released on January 10, 2001. The album is composed entirely of drastically rearranged acoustic covers of Bon Scott-era AC/DC songs. The album follows the release of his debut solo EP Rock 'n' Roll Singer, which also features three AC/DC covers: "Rock 'n' Roll Singer," "You Ain't Got a Hold on Me," and "Bad Boy Boogie. The versions of "Rock 'n' Roll Singer" and "Bad Boy Boogie" on this album are different from the versions on the EP.

Mark Kozelek - all that I admire about music, all that drives me to write songs, all that compels me to not settle for anything less than the truly amazing - is caputered in the beauty that is Mark's music. It was the greatest accident in my life. I am a huge fan of catchy, quiet folk music with insightful lyrics. If you enjoy this album then I strongly recommend that you check out the following: 1) Ghosts Of The Great Highway by Sun Kil Moon. 2) Kings Avenue Joe Kile. Mark Kozelek has been putting out great music for a long time, from the early Red House Painters' output all the way to his recent "Ghosts of the Great Highway" under his new band's banner, Sun Kil Moon. This effort is one of two solo albums he recorded after RHP disbanded, and probably the quirkiest and most ambitious of both albums.

Singer/Songwriter Mark Kozelek has released albums as Red House Painters, Sun Kil Moon, and under his own name, as well as collaborations with Justin Broadrick (Godflesh) and drummer Jim White (Dirty Three). His latest, I Also Want To Die In New Orleans comes out digitally March 1 and on CD April 12 on Caldo Verde Records. I must love it because I’m still here, listening to the windows shake on this windy night in San Francisco. Josh: Someone once told me we should only eat what we ourselves would be willing to kill. I’ve been unable to escape the contradiction. I eat cow, but could never kill a cow. I try to eat turkey burgers instead of hamburgers, but have been unable to give up steak.
Kozelek expanded on this idea in 2001, releasing a full-length album composed solely of AC/DC covers titled What's Next to the Moon. These new arrangements sounded so unlike the originals that a KCRW radio executive insisted that the title track was a Leonard Cohen song. This was not the first time Kozelek had drastically re-arranged others' material to his own ends. With Red House Painters, he had previously done similar reconstructions with Simon & Garfunkel's "I Am a Rock," The Cars' "All Mixed Up," Kiss's "Shock Me," Yes's.
Mark Kozelek’s last album under his Sun Kill Moon moniker was 2014’s Benji. The musician was in the headlines recently over his feud with The War On Drugs‘ Adam Granduciel after Kozelek dismissed the latter’s music as beer commercial lead guitar shit and posted two songs online entitled ‘War On Drugs: Suck My Cock’ and ‘Adam Granofsky Blues’.
