fazendo referência a Bongo Fury, LP, Album, Promo, San, DS 2234. Promo - a very clean and lively pressing of this album my copy sounds so much crisper to the German pressing i have. Responder Notifique-me Helpful. fazendo referência a Bongo Fury, LP, Album, San, DS 2234. Got this one, but a variant of the runout. If you are a Beefheart fan then maybe you would expect something different, that's true. Listen to it a few times and it will really start to grow on you.

Bongo Fury captures Captain Beefheart aka Don Van Vliet with Frank Zappa during their brief reunion for a series of shows in the spring of 1975. This album is a pastiche of both live performances - taken from two evenings at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, TX - and studio recordings that were almost a year-and-a-half old. This is the last album to feature the highly technical jazz fusion of Mothers of Invention, whose roots can be traced back to 1973 circa Over-Nite Sensation.

Bongo Fury is a mostly live album released by Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart in 1975. The live portions were recorded on May 20 & 21, 1975 at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, Texas. In 1975 guitarist and composer Frank Zappa asked composer and t Captain Beefheart to join him and his band on their 1975 tour. The tour resulted in the release of one album, Bongo Fury, which featured recordings from two nights in May 1975 at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, Texas, as well as recordings from a Frank Zappa studio sessions in January 1974.

Bongo Fury" is the last Frank Zappa album where his band was listed as The Mothers. The 7 live tracks on the album were recorded on May 20 & 21, 1975 at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, Texas and features among others Frank Zappas old friend Captain Beefheart on harmonica, harp and vocals. Bongo Fury captures Zappa and the Mothers sliding into avant-blues territory with Captain Beefheart rounding out the crew. From the perspective of a fan of the mid-1970s incarnation of the Mothers, this is probably a lower priority that that lineup's studio albums or more essential live albums like You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Volume 2 or Roxy and Elsewhere; the fusion side of the band is toned down, and the Beefheart-less songs seem like.

Notes

Unlike regular UK or US issues, this sleeve has a slightly smaller cover picture, resulting in the "Chocolate Sundae" lettering of the sign above Zappa's head to be visible. it also evidences that the cover image has been reversed on all [worldwide] issues of this album. (e.g. Flipped left-to-right). The photo was taken in 'Foster's Freeze' in Antelope Valley.

In addition, cover text is printed on this release. (It was a sticker on shrink-wrap of other releases, or simply did not appear).
The over-printed black text is also off-center. (It was centered on the Australian issue).

Unlike other releases, the background of the sleeve back's 'close-up' of the floor [from front cover] is single-color 'grey', whilst it was full-color 'brown' on other issues.

Sleeve printed by "G. Print" (circular logo, back cover, bottom-right). Inside of sleeve is a straw-colored lined-texture finish.
Sleeve back; "P.O. Box 2915, Auckland, New Zealand". There is an "A" in a box-rule in top-right corner.

Re: Credit as "Shopping Bags" - Beefheart was renowned for his carrying of shopping bags, stuffed with notebooks, harmonicas & bric-a-brac.
(Vliet's constant 'sketching' of FZ in his notebooks led to some acrimony between the two during the "Bongo Fury" tour).

[This album may also have circulated in Australia & parts of Pacific Rim, but that is conjecture].
