great ant
Indeed what a All-Star cast of hard-boppers. Junior Cook (Herman Cook) after playing with Dizzy Gillespie in 1958 along with Slide Hampton (who arranged this LP) and Mario Rivera on baritone sax and top self support with Al Dailey on piano, Walter Booker on bass, Leroy Williams on drums. This was time frame for Junior Cook when he and Bill Hardman (79/81) put out albums on Muse and SteepleChase labels. In addition to many appearances as a sideman with Horace Silver, Barry Harris, Freddie Hubbard, Blue Mitchell, Bertha Hope (his last record session) and many more. Junior Cook died February 3rd 1992 (aged 57) New York City, United States. ~ ☮HЯ ✌
