It’s been five years since Kansas City, Kan. singer Janelle Monáe released her last album, 2013’s The Electric Lady. Today, she returned with a pair of new singles from her upcoming album Dirty Computer: Make Me Feel and Django Jane. Monáe’s star has risen considerably in the past few years, thanks in part to her roles in the Oscar-nominated films Hidden Figures and Moonlight. She references both on Django Jane, as Genius contributors Souldier77 and Aleut explain in an annotation: The song’s title references Quentin Tarantino’s slavery film Django Unchained, and the theme of black pride.

Jah, I'm Serious refers to a multi-panel image of fictional dad joke interaction between musician Billie Eilish and late rapper XXXTentacion. Starting in February 2019, the image and its cropped version were circulated as exploitables.

Jane Doe is the fourth studio album by American metalcore band Converge. It was released on September 4, 2001, via Equal Vision Records, it is the band's last release on the label. The album was produced by Matthew Ellard alongside Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou and the artwork was created by the band's singer Jacob Bannon. It the band's first album to feature bassist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller, and the last to feature guitarist Aaron Dalbec; Converge's line-up has remained stable since.

Cooke, along with singing partners Hannah Mulholland and Jennifer Wayne (the granddaughter of the Duke himself) are bound to get some Dixie Chicks comparisons with their brand of harmony-drenched country-pop, but their debut album Blue Roses offers plenty to distinguish them from that multi-Platinum trio. There’s a very contemporary spirit of independence and grown-ass agency that courses through these songs, like the confident assertion made in I Know the Way ( to un-break your heart, directed at a guy who suddenly finds himself single) or the unguarded rush of physical desire described in Got Me Where I Want You. They come off playfully defiant on Head Over Heels, rebuffing a drunk-dialing ex who has one thing on his mind, and then mournful on I Am Too, turning the blame for wrecking a good thing inward.
