Red Ant filed for bankruptcy before the album was officially released. Salt-n-Pepa toured to support the album, although the album had no other promotion whatsoever. Brand New had two minor hits: "R U Ready" and "Gitty Up", the latter of which samples the Rick James song "Give It to Me Baby". The album was certified gold in the United States.

Salt-N-Pepa is an American rnb and hip-hop group, consisting of Cheryl James and Sandy Denton ("Salt" and "Pepa", respectively), and Deidre "Dee Dee" Roper (DJ Spinderella). They debuted with "The Show Stopper", a response record to Doug E. Fresh & Slick Rick's "The Show". It was an underground hit and Salt-N-Pepa signed to Next Plateau.

Salt n' Pepa - Greatest Hits (CD 1991). Was never a hardened Salt N' Pepa fan, but had this on tape in the 90's and remembered it being a really good as an 'in the car' sing along. If you remember and like Push It there are probably only 2 tracks that aren't quite to that standard on this CD. Perhaps having a walk down memory lane, but it still bought a smile to my face during the drive into work this morning!

Pepa and Treach would remain married for two years but their tumultuous marriage would end in divorce on July 31, 2001. With no albums contractually due at the time, Salt decided to quit the group, stating she had enough of the music industry and no longer wanted to be involved in it. They officially disbanded in 2002. Some time later, Salt announced that she would be releasing her first solo album, but never ended up doing so. She was featured on the remix version of the Salt.
