Wild Thing" is a song written by American songwriter Chip Taylor and popularized by the English rock band the Troggs. It was originally recorded and released by the American rock band the Wild Ones in 1965, but it did not chart. The Troggs' single reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the UK Singles Chart in 1966. Their version of "Wild Thing" was ranked at number 257 on the Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
If you're a casual pop punk fan or really only know the stuff you saw on Fuse or Total Request Live you might not really know The Ergs. Though they gravitated more toward the legitimate punk and hardcore scene, they have a lot in common with the bands on this list, though they're both a little more jokey and less silly. Pop punk is about as American as it gets, so Jimmy Eat World titling their most popular album Bleed American is very appropriate. This powerhouse of an album contains the massive single, "The Middle," easily the pop punk anthem of 2001. I mean, there's even a song called "Dick Lips" on the damn thing. The band never took anything seriously - except for girlfriends and how to obtain them - which was as endearing and as playful as the San Diego trio's personalities. Plus, Dude Ranch also includes the single "Dammit," which is the first song every pop punk fan learns on guitar.
Punk rock is in its fucking forties - a frightening thought if there ever was one - and over that span the genre has produced many more than 50 great albums. Therefore, it's likely that anyone who reads this list will be outraged by some glaring omission - some of you might even pogo right over to our offices and deliver us a fresh knuckle sandwich. If we're lucky, however, most of you will just be content to enjoy the dazzling writing of those who contributed, and maybe learn about a few choice records that you've never heard of. Never mind the bullocks, here's the list

The Troggs ended up recording Wild Thing -as well as follow-up hit With A Girl Like You -in 20 minutes. The legacy of the song went beyond the ’60s. It’s been covered by everyone from Aerosmith to Amanda Lear to Cheap Trick to Liz Phair.
Punk rock started in 1976 on New York’s Bowery, when four cretins from Queens came up with a mutant strain of blitzkrieg bubblegum. The revolution they inspired split the history of rock & roll in half. But even if punk rock began as a kind of negation - a call to stark, brutal simplicity - its musical variety and transforming emotional power was immediate and remains staggering. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Ramones’ toweringly influential self-titled debut, we’ve compiled a list of the 40 Greatest Punk Albums of All Time. If Ramones was Year Zero for punk rock, it didn’t come.
Falling somewhere between punk rock and new wave, the album highlighted that punk music functioned at its best when it dared to experiment, leading Trouser Press to dub the band a blast of fresh air compared to the more serious bands of new wave’s first charge. High-octane goofballs Rezillos mixed surf rock, garage, glam, rockabilly and New Wave quirko-costumes into a punk-rock band that feels like the B-52’s if they listened to more Cramps than Chic, wrote Rolling Stone in 2017. Debut album The Crack was filled with fury and despair, and its blend of righteous riffs, anthemic choruses and deep dub grooves marked The Ruts apart from many of their punk contemporaries. For a while, they perhaps promised to be as important and influential as The Clash. Because in 1978 the sound of the football terraces meant only one thing: skinheads.
