The third studio long-player from the quirky, Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey-based indie rockers, the Fueled by Ramen-issued Back on Top finds the Front Bottoms making the jump to a major label without losing any authenticity in process. Obstinate, fun, melodious, awkward, inventive, rude, and occasionally enlightening, Back on Top offers up another spirited set of good time folk-punk that's as hook-filled and hilarious as it is filthy.

Usually, The Front Bottoms endlessly narcissistic and snarky delivery comes off as annoying rather then charming, but with Back on Top they finally hit the sweet spot between charming and creative, making probably the best record by them to date. It ultimately doesn’t matter; the Front Bottoms have refined their sound and burst into the alternative music scene with their fifth studio-album, Back on Top, which will surely one of the most fun albums of the year. The majority of what they put out is built. Or consider a donation? Track List.
Four years later, The Front Bottoms have indeed blown up. However, it is clear that the band is still riding out the momentum of their successful self titled LP and as a result, put together an album more underwhelming than the last. TFB begin their album with the song "Motorcycle" – an intro that does not meet the standards of past openers such as "Flashlight" and "Au Revoir" because it feels as if they simply wrote a song and placed it at the beginning. If you are new to TFB, Back on Top will be a pleasant listen with nothing much to offer. They are dwelling in a more radio friendly area whereas the origin of their success is in the field of witty lyrics and upbeat instrumentation.
