If you should cross the white light And find yourself in the black I'll be right there behind you You will have no need to look back. And when the night cries itself awake Dying in the light of day Our endless love Will remain Until we meet again. If I should go before you Into the great unknown I'll leave my ghost right beside you You won't have to wait alone

It's a record that sums up 10 years of work under the City and Colour banner, and marks two years of touring with a group of performers who have become close friends. inspired me to want to create new music, just to create it with them - I don't think I wrote these songs for the band, per. se, but I certainly wrote them because of the band," Green said. Floyd Jr Blood is hands down the most amazing song on the entire album.

Dallas Green + Nashville one happy hipster. With their fifth full-length, City and Colour take fans on a journey down yet another fresh musical highway-following signs for open space, syrupy vocals and, of course, the well-traveled upbeat/depressing lyrical dynamic Green has become known for. Woman expresses over nine minutes of shoegaze before Northern Blues brings back a more straightforward blues approach. The album’s highlight, Wasted Love, hits a familiar indie chord, but is separated from the commercial pack with a vocal presence only Dallas Green can deliver

City and Colour’s new album, the ominously titled If I Should Go Before You ably showcases the conflicting elements that, ahem, color Green’s music. The first two numbers, Woman (not the John Lennon song of the same name) and Northern Blues are etched as celestial soundscapes, all very heavenly sounding with a decidedly philosophical bent. Mizzy C is more grounded, but like much of the album, it also finds Green singing in a higher register that often finds him veering into Jon Anderson's celestial territory. While some songs on If I Should Go Before You seem mired in a malaise, this one is engrained with a sheen and sentiment that reverberates throughout. Had the rest of the album sounded so assured, Green might have made his masterpiece.
