The Italian harpsichordist, organist, musicologist and composer Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini has died aged 88. A key proponent of the historical performance practice movement, Tagliavini played an important role in drawing attention to historical organs in Italy. Born in Bologna, Tagliavini studied at Bologna and Paris conservatoires before graduating from the University of Padua with a dissertation on Bach’s sacred cantatas in 1951

Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini (Bologna, Italy, 7 October 1929 – 11 July 2017) was an Italian organist, harpsichordist, musicologist and composer. He studied at the conservatories of Bologna and Paris and the University of Padua and taught the organ in Bologna, Bolzano and Parma, and music history in Bologna and Fribourg. He was a pioneer in organ restoration and his performances of older music combine his musicology and practical musicianship.

Album · 1994 · 12 Songs. Concerto n°9 en ré majeur, Op. 3, BWV 972: Larghetto. By Antonio Vivaldi & Antonio Vivaldi. 3.

Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini, orgue.

Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini (7 October 1929 – 11 July 2017), was an Italian organist, harpsichordist, musicologist and composer. He was born in Bologna. He has conducted studies in music classes organ, piano and composition with Riccardo Nielsen to Conservatory of Bologna and Paris Conservatory (in the class of Marcel Dupré)
