Rolling Stone’s definitive list of the 500 greatest songs of all time. When I’m writing a song that I know is going to work, it’s a feeling of euphoria. It’s how a basketball player must feel when he starts hitting every shot, when you’re in that zone. As soon as you start, you get that magic feeling, an extra feeling. Songs like that come out in five minutes; if I work on them more than, say, 20 minutes, they’re probably not going to work. Read Jay-Z’s full essay here. The Rolling Stones, ‘Brown Sugar’. Writers: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards Producer: Jimmy Miller Released: April '71, Rolling Stones 12 weeks; No. 1. The Stones take on slavery, sadomasochism, interracial sex - and make it catchy as hell.

Fling you out into orbit No one's going to hear you shout And fools aren't going to follow You don't send the sleaze about. Now you're sad, sad, sad Sad, sad, sad Sad, sad, sad But you're going to be fine. The elephant's in the bedroom Throwing all his weight about And I'm locked in the bathroom Your screams are going to drown me out.

Fifty years rolling on, and there are still many mysteries to the Rolling Stones. Mick Jagger's fear of being seen as yesterday's papers, the death of Brian Jones, and top of the list, the resistance of releasing the tons of great stuff stashed in their archives! Over the years, the band have occasionally reached into their past to resurrect old songs. We kick off our list of the Top 10 Unreleased Rolling Stones Songs with an outtake from the legendary Chess Studios sessions of 1964. Stewed And Keefed' is a blues instrumental that shines a bright light on how pure the guys could be when it came to the blues. The song has also been known as 'Brian's Blues,' a nod to the late great Brian Jones, because he was absent from the sessions.

Though it remains the only Rolling Stones outtakes collection album ever to be officially released, Metamorphosis is one of those albums that has been slighted by almost everyone who has touched it, a problem that lies in its genesis

and the new millennium that still sees them doing great live shows. The last official album was A Bigger Bang from 2005, and they've more or less stopped making new stuff since. The Beatles quit the concerts to concentrate on the studio. The Stones, being the live band they always were, quit the studio to concentrate on the concerts. Ahead of their time in the 60s, pulling the plug in the 70s and then aborting in the 80s and 90s alike. Now in the 21st century a group of grandads respectively continues to tour and in that respect the 'Rock and Roll' principle is a perfect example of lifestyle - sex and drugs included.

Clear recording but slightly distant. Solid VG+ AUD to my ears. Jagger’s vocals and the guitars are up front in the recording and enjoyable. Bass and drums buried somewhat. Overall, a good listen.
Addendum: Per my last response in the "history" section on 10/10/11, I said that the labels on this two album set were blank. Rather, they are "labels" that do not indicated that the pressing is a T.M.O.Q issue and do not possess the name of The Rolling Stones, Song Listings, or Catalog Number. William Stout's cartoon of a Pig's Head only appears on a paper insert which can be found on the reversed side of this vinyl. As this label is now defunct, there is no definitive evidence on the label that this set is a Trademark of Quality product.
