Autumnal Bittersweet Earthy Literate Organic Playful Poignant Rollicking. Live at Watkins Glen. Along with the Allman Brothers and the Grateful Dead, the Band were a featured act at the 1973 Watkins Glen festival, a half-forgotten event that attracted half a million spectators. This rather brief (ten-song) excerpt from their set may be of interest to Band fans, but it's really rather unnecessary in light of a much better live album (Rock of Ages) and the fact that the performance itself wasn't anything spectacular.

Summer Jam Watkins Glen 1973, Woodstock Music and Art Fair, The Band, Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, Shelly Finkel, Jim Koplin. The Allman Brothers followed with a couple more songs. Like no other band before, since, and perhaps ever, the Dead ended up doing 90 minutes with two full sets aside from the heat, one of the most difficult parts of the day was finding water.
