Dylanesque is the twelfth studio album by Bryan Ferry, the former lead vocalist for Roxy Music. The album consists of covers of Bob Dylan songs. It reached the Top 10 on both United Kingdom and Swedish album charts.

The chief joke of the album is that Dylanesque isn't particularly Dylanesque, aside from a couple of harmonica solos plunked in for symbolic purposes. Anything resembling a rough edge in the arrangements has been buffed away; Dylan's wicked vocal backspin has been replaced by Ferry's er-jacket-baby default croon, sometimes backed up by characterless backup chicks. He also hermetically seals the hits off from meaning. else he could rubber-stamp the "Bryan Ferry" brand onto. But compared to, say, Nina Simone's er rendition of the same song, it just seems lazy. When he recycles the same blasé, prefabricated technique for virtually every other song here, it's not just lazy- it's infuriating.

CDS52 1. Bryan Ferry. Dylanesque ‎(CDr, Album, Unofficial). I don’t believe that I have ever heard Bryan present us with such a believable album before. This may be due to the nature of the songs, but non the less, this is a fine release that will not only hold your attention, but cause you to reconsider both the nature of Bryan Ferry and Bob Dylan.

There are no new wrinkles, then, apart from a small but crucial one - unlike his other records, this was recorded quickly, over the course of a week with his touring band in tow. This does give Dylanesque a comparatively loose, off-the-cuff feel, which is a bit of a welcome relief after several decades of cautious, deliberate conceptual albums, and gives the album its understated charm.

Bryan Ferry has always coupled his own songwriting with a great reputation as an interpreter of other peoples songs. Dylanesque Live: The London Sessions shows him performing all the tracks from the album live in the studio and also features insights from Bryan on his thoughts regarding the different tracks and why he chose them Ferry's "Olympia" tour traveled the world in 2011, including this spectacular performance filmed on July 25 at the ancient Roman amphitheatre in Lyon, France as part of the Nuits de Fourviere Festival. The show features tracks from across Ferry's 40 year career including classic Roxy Music songs, solo hits and his renowned interpretations of other writer's material all delivered with the style and panache that is uniquely Bryan Ferry.
