XOSAR - Let Go Moving away from cassettes to good old wax, you might expect Black Opal to be the more club-oriented arm of Opal Tapes, but so far the young imprint has mostly released material that wouldn't have sounded out of place on its parent label. Cloudface's wonderful untitled record was a subdued affair, while Ñaka Ñaka's Mundo Harsh clothed its bangers in baggy coats of reverb. Only Patricia's Body Issues made a run for the dance floor, but even that one was originally a tape before it was a 12-inch. Opener "The Pit" is the real standout, plunging the album into heaving techno in its very first moments. This one triggers chimes and dings at odd intervals, as if it were bumbling through a busy arcade, and the overstuffed feeling almost becomes absurd once Rahman jams a kick drum in there.

"Sail 2 Elderon" is another great track by Xosar, love to hear it in my car at night while travelling
Five star release with PERFECT FI sound. Hades Gates is the ultimate descent into the morass of the below. Cavernous. Does anyone really want their heretical swamp techno to sound as crisp as a Steely Dan album? Course not m8. Listen again and in the words of my friend Micheal give your heeds a wobble
Xosar makes great music but the quality of audio engineering on this record leaves a lot to be desired. Muddy is the word that comes to mind
That's the way it have to be sound like. "Lo-Fi" music.
I'm not sure it would need two records. Moreover, with the delays all independant labels are experiencing, and all those 5 min/side albums, I believe it's a true act of good citizenship from BO.

For the price they sell these one would expect a two disc release.
I love it. but why not make it 2 discs? its sounds quite low...
It sounds low but why not the issue is more the quality of the pressing with some anoying crackles on my version.
I think it sounds quite good this way!! Lo-Fi madness!!!
amazing album, some of it recorded through a damp sock. an eq challenge.
