Like Joy Division, The Chameleons use quite simple yet catchy riffs and hypnotic drumming to create a gripping dark atmosphere, though the bass isn't as prominent here.

Some critics regard their debut album Script of the Bridge as one of the best post-punk albums ever. At the time of its release on the 8th August, 1983, Script of the Bridge sounded strikingly different to what had come before.

The remaster is excellent the sound is punchy and pristine, but as has been said before it's let down by the artwork. A single album sleeve, not a gatefold.
Nern
I heard this reissue before and yes the quality of the sound is really good, but independently of that, the sleeve art is altered so bad that it looks really ugly. so I ended up buying the Uk 1983 version. in my opinion sounds much better in comparisson to this re-issue. After all, it's the original sound.

After getting my copy, I'm going to have to agree with some of you on the fact the cover art leaves something to be desired. But the remastering is great! It sounds terrific!
Ucantia
Yes, the sleeve quality is half-ass. But this double vinyl re-issue sounds WAY better than the orig US or UK. Mastered by Guy Massey at Abbey Road. Worth every cent.
Nikohn
My sentiments exactly... brilliant re-mastering by Guy Massey. Apparently they're re-mastering What Does Anything Mean Basically next..... Slated for release later this year so I've heard. Lets hope the artwork is better on that one eh?
Cordaron
Very disappointed with the quality of this sleeve. First of all, the new artwork is horrid. It looks like a blown-up lowres JPEG (i.e. artifacts everywhere), and personally I prefer the more vivid design of the original artwork. Secondly, it's not even a gatefold! Instead of just emulating the design of the 2012 gatefold repress, they decided to jam two 180g's into a single sleeve (to save money, presumably). It's unfortunate because the records themselves do sound quite good, but the sleeve is simply not up to par, especially considering this sells for around $40. It feels like a bootleg.
SING
Oh well, who cares really. The sound and mastering is out of this world ????
Cogelv
Is this really limited? I can't find any information about that.
