Tommy James (born Thomas Gregory Jackson; April 29, 1947) also known as Tommy Tadger, is an American pop rock musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer, widely known as leader of the 1960s rock band Tommy James and the Shondells. Born in Dayton, Ohio, James and his family moved to Niles, Michigan. He was a child model at the age of four. In 1959, at the age of twelve, he formed the band "The Echoes", which eventually became "Tom and the Tornadoes"

Tommy James was on a roll! Not only did the total sales of his four 1969 hits top those of the Beatles that year, his second volume of greatest hits - The Best Of Tommy James and The Shondells (featuring "Ball of Fire") – also appeared and ultimately sold over 10 million copies. Alone among his 1960s contemporaries, Tommy had successfully made the transition from a Top 40 pop singer to a respected classic rock album artist  . In the 1990s, Tommy formed Aura Records and scored three Top 5 AC hits from his Hold The Fire album. Meanwhile Tommy's songs had become pop culture classics and were being covered by everyone from punk rockers to country icons.

Hold the Fire deserves a better fate, and the team-up of James with James "Wiz" Wisner leads to some very creative moments. Isn't That the Guy" has a great hook, a terrific hook, and some modern sensibilities, but may be a bit too avant-garde for adult contemporary radio. It Keeps on Goin' " reveals the Tommy James his true fans appreciate, investigating pop boundaries and keeping the music different from track to track. It's a missed opportunity, and is indicative of the album; this is a very good record from a great artist who delivered great albums whether they sold or not. The title track works, as does much of the music here, and it is great to have the pop maestro back.

Tommy James - Hold The Fire (Letra e música para ouvir) - You can't believe your eyes, the lines that show, The mirror doesn't lie, you're growin' old, The love, the love, the love you, Thought would last . The love, the love, the love you Thought would last a lifetime is growin' cold. You're the one who had to run and hold the fire (whoa) You were hot and always got your one desire (whoa). Now you say your hands are shakin', Now you say your heart is breakin', Now you've got a funny feelin' Nothin' lasts forever, hold the fire (You're the one who had to run And hold the fire) c'mon, hold the fire (You were hot and always got your one desire) gotta hold on (You're the one who had to. run and hold the fire).
