by side or fighting each other but they only very rarely coalesce. I believe they have succeeded to finally fuse them all in their last album "II". The real miracle is that they absolutely didn't lose one bit of their energy nor an inch of their incredible grooviness (drummer Jeff Conaway is simply amazing), not even the length of most of their tracks. They also abandoned that over-saturated sound, they maybe realized that their sound is loud and powerful enough, if not more, in complete high-definition.

The Psychic Paramount – II. May 12, 2011December 1, 2014, David James. So I know I’ve been sluggish this year with Optimistic Underground.
The Psychic Paramount seizes a musical idea at its inception and mounts it on a crucifix, whipping it with examination until that once-simple idea becomes a complex bastard of an opus. They broke through with an early live album documenting their 2002 European tour, and that record still sounds radical today-a snapshot of untamed, reckless instrumental catharsis. This is an appropriate story with which to frame II because the album is very cold and mechanical, the group measuring out their sound in precise doses. They’re not surrendering to the noise like they used to; instead, they’re caught up in their own machinery and fascinated with its intricacy.
The Psychic Paramount is an American experimental rock group from New York City. The band was formed by guitarist Drew St. Ivany and bassist Ben Armstrong after the dissolution of Laddio Bolocko. Beginning with solo acoustic recordings by St. Ivany, they soon booked a European tour with a very short time to find a drummer. Finding Tatsuya Nakatani, the band had less than a week to practice before setting out for multiple shows in France and Italy.
The psychic paramount. Psychedelic/Space Rock, United States. Six years passed in between the Psychic Paramount's first full-length and their second, simply titled II. The band's tricks displayed on their first album are still completely present here, although it's slightly less distorted. This is for the best; while distortion is of course an intrinsic part of noise-rock, the band pushed it to an extreme limit on their first album. It's still by no means mastered particularly well, but it's also not in the pantheon of "loudest albums I've ever heard"
