This is a flawed but fascinating multi-artist compilation, representing highlights from the output of the Houston-based Eddie's Records, founded in the fall of 1947 by part-time DJ and record distributor Eddie Henry. As to the range of sounds, they encompass everything from big-band swing (in stripped-down form), jump blues, and boogie woogie to early-'50s R&B, with "Jumpin' the Blues" and "Merry Go Round" by the Sonny Boy Franklin Orchestra running the full gamut. Sadly enough, Eddie Henry passed away in the early 1950s, before he ever had a chance to explore or exploit the new music, making this 14-song CD just about the totality of his extant legacy.

In the late 1980s and the early 1990s country bands released country boogies. Today, the term "boogie" usually refers to dancing to pop, disco, or rock music. Boogie-woogie is a style of blues piano playing characterized by an up-tempo rhythm, a repeated melodic pattern in the bass, and a series of improvised variations in the treble. Boogie woogie developed from a piano style that developed in the rough barrelhouse bars in the Southern states, where a piano player performed for the hard-drinking patrons. or to a sexually transmitted disease. In Peter Silvester's book on boogie woogie, Left Hand Like God - the Story of Boogie Woogie he states that, in 1929, boogie-woogie is used to mean either dancing or music in the city of Detroit.

Although the release of "Boogies, Blues And Bounce" completes Ace's LWL reissue programme for now, there are still several excellent alternate takes in the vault not to mention the remainder of Willie's original audition session for Jules Bihari. We hope that we'll be able to bring at least some of these to you in forthcoming Modern multi-artist compilations

The term Various Artists is used in the record industry when numerous singers and musicians collaborate on a song or collection of songs. fm, compilation album tracks appear under the name of Various Artists erroneously because the individual artist is not listed in the album's ID3 information.

The passing on of folk music – and the blues is folk music – is a complex process; without TV, radio, CDs, records, cassettes, or any other process for hearing recorded blues music, it was spread literally by word of mouth. The following month he recorded two of his own tunes, ‘Guitar Blues’ and ‘Guitar Rag’, and the latter proved inspirational both to black blues musicians and white country musicians. Its records were cheap and their quality was often poor, with a high surface noise, and the label withdrew from recording in 1932, a victim of the Great Depression.
