Meet the Residents is the debut studio album by the American avant-garde music group the Residents, released on April 1, 1974 through Ralph Records. Recorded as a break from their film project Vileness Fats, the album was home-produced and recorded throughout 1973 with help from fellow musician Snakefinger and based around N. Senada's "Theory of Phonetic Organization. Its album cover brought the band to prominence, being a parody of Meet the Beatles!, the Beatles' second US album release

The Residents are an American musical group and art collective who have active since the mid-1960s, and best known for their avant-garde music and multimedia works. Since their first official release in 1972, they have produced a vast catalogue of albums, videos, live performances, books and CD-ROM projects.
From the altered "Meet The Beatles" album cover, to the deconstructed and distorted rock songs on the inside, there were few artists at the time creating this sort of mayhem. Technically primitive compared to most of the albums that followed from this band, it still provides a world of wonder
The result is a series of unique, odd, challenging numbers that are nevertheless not entirely successful. The album cover is a fierce burlesque of the Beatles' first . This is an utterly bizarre platter that may appeal to very adventurous listeners.
