Chee-Chee and Peppy were an American R&B teen vocal duo who recorded in the early 1970s and had a US Hot 100 hit with "I Know I'm In Love". The duo comprised Dorothy "Dottie" Moore (born 1959, Norristown, Pennsylvania) and Keith Bolling (born 1957, Frankford, Pennsylvania). Moore, then aged 12, was discovered by record producer and songwriter Jesse James when he was asked to speak to local children at her school

Keith "Chee Chee" Bolling & Dorothy "Pepe Pepe" Moore. They were discovered by Jessie James (4) (the composer/producer of The Fantastic Johnny C's "Boogaloo Down Broadway" among other hits). Also interesting that the 1981 releases were not with Keith Bolling he was replaced by Charles Campbell the new "Pepe Pepe".

Chee-Chee & Peppy's self-titled 1972 album is fun bubblegum soul. It includes their biggest career hit "I Know I'm in Love. They're also some remakes of familiar tunes: The Drifters' "This Magic Moment," Clyde McPhatter's "A Lover's Question," and Inez and Charlie Foxx's "Mockingbird. Two cute kids with childlike voices making' some music for the Buddah label - good stuff. Reply Notify me 1 Helpful.

Consumer Guide Album. Chee Chee & Peppy: Chee Chee & Peppy If I'm opposed to music that lays fantasy trips on the unsuspecting, then why do I dig these two s & Herb cum Jackson 5-singing about rings and things? Because who would believe it, that's why. The side of oldies is an expendable novelty, I admit. But producer Jesse James has come up with more good originals than Marvin & Tammi ever got. B.

Chee Chee & Peppy - Super Yo. ip.

Chee-Chee and Peppy's first single, "I Know I'm In Love", written, arranged and produced by James and released by Buddah Records, reached on the Billboard R&B chart and on the pop chart in spring 1971, and was followed by "Never Never Never", which reached on the R&B chart. The duo's later recordings were. less successful, but they issued an LP, Chee Chee & Peppy, in 1972. Each side of a 12-inch LP could play for more than 20 minutes, although the LP was suited to classical music because of its extended continuous playing time, it also allowed a collection of ten or more pop music recordings to be put on a single disc. The use of the word album persisted for the one-disc LP equivalent, the prototype of the LP was the soundtrack disc used by the Vitaphone motion picture sound system, developed by Western Electric and introduced in 1926.
