But the new album from composer Ívar Páll Jónsson marvelously reintroduces just how magical telling a story through an entire album can be. The instruments heard include an array of percussion; full drum set to tambourines, piano, strings, guitar, and synths. Themes of revolution, romance and conflict are heard woven into the lyrics. The arrangements are mystical, textured and vast. A number of singers are featured, creating characters and enhancing the storyline. Jónsson fronted a band called Blome in the 1990s, releasing one album and performing one gig before "I decided being a frontman isn't for me," he says. I'm more of an introverted personality. But the new album from composer Ívar Páll Jónsson marvelously reintroduces just how magical telling a story through an entire album can be. The opener is a hypnotic and ethereal number titled The Legacy Of Elbowville. The track features a powerful female vocalist over.
My friend Liam and his group The Family Crest have a new album out, called The War: Act 1. Sublime, as you would expect. As you may have noticed, popular music has kind of lost its soul, more often than not drenched in the egocentricity of the performers. A lot of the time, the songs sound like karaoke versions of themselves, the vocal in your face so that the listener is able to discern every syllable. In addition to the fact that contemporary popular music has turned into. fast food for people with a short attention span, which is another story. Liam McCormick is unaffected by this.
This idiosyncratic musical, by Iceland's Ívar Páll Jónsson, is set in a small town located inside a human elbow. Broadway bombshells Cady Huffman (The Producers) and Kate Shindle (Legally Blonde) bring their tested skills to the table; Bergur Ingólfsson directs the world premiere. They must know that they’re in the kind of show they will laugh about years hence, but you have to admire the joint effort. THE BOTTOM LINE Curio collectors may drink up this full-bodied bottle of crazy. ollow Adam Feldman on Twitter: manAdam.
Written by Ívar Páll Jónsson, it tells the story of Elbowville, a small nation that lives in the elbow of said furniture painter. It’s an idyllic community threatened by ambition and greed as they strive for importance; they eventually band together to rise up in a revolution, with the evol part of the word turned around to spell love. The feels surely overflow with this one. What we have here is not a live recording of the musical performance but the studio version. And one thing you can say is that this album is the epitome of professionalism
