They then moved to the label Sympathy For The Record Industry and began to receive acclaim for their act and eponymous 1st album, mixing astute cover versions (Robert Johnson's "Stop Breaking Down Blues" and Josh White's "St. James Infirmary") with some devastating originals. By the time of the following year's De Stijl, the media buzz surrounding the White Stripes had reached new heights.
The Gold Dollar is a venue where the White Stripes played some of their earliest shows, and this particular set was captured on February 6, 1999. It was the garage-blues duo’s first performance after recording their self-titled debut album. This was their second-ever headlining gig and featured the first-ever performances of songs like Astro, Suzy Lee and Stop Breaking Down. Beyond that, the live record includes a heap of songs from their first album, along with some of their most iconic covers (like Bob Dylan’s One More Cup of Coffee and Son House’s Grinnin’ in Your Face )
The Gold Dollar had been a significant location in the White Stripes’ history, having been the venue where Jack and Meg White played many of their earliest shows. Vault Package contained recordings from their first two shows ever, which took place at Gold Dollar, while Package contains a set from February 6th, 1999. The band had concluded tracking for their self-titled debut just weeks prior to the performance. Third Man has released a live version of Let’s Build a Home that would eventually appear on the group’s 2000 album De Stijl. The full Vault Package includes a newly mixed recording of the live set on blood red vinyl alongside reproductions of flyers Jack White created for the event, a handwritten set list, glossy photos captures by Doug Coombe from a show at the Cass Corridor Club and a seven-inch from the Dead Weather single series. Beyond that, the live record includes a heap of songs from their first album, along with some of their most iconic covers (like Bob Dylan’s One More Cup of Coffee and Son House’s Grinnin’ in Your Face )

The White Stripes is the debut studio album by American alternative rock duo The White Stripes, released on June 15, 1999. White dedicated the album to deceased blues musician Son House. Johnny Walker of the Soledad Brothers played slide guitar on two songs: "Suzy Lee" and "I Fought Piranhas"
It features two shows they performed in Detroit and Ferndale in Michigan, USA. The Detroit show, which took place in 2001, was their last performance at the legendary rock bar Gold Dollar. And as one of the supporting shows for their recently released White Blood Cells LP it saw them perform the whole album in its entirety.
