Welcome to Head Wound City! Now die alone in the street, skull crushed flat by the bumper of that yellow cab you didn’t see coming-the one with wheels made of cyanide-laced donuts, and GG Allin’s grinning ghost grinding the gears. Head Wound City are a hardcore supergroup consisting of Jordan Blilie and Cody Votolato of Blood Brothers, Nick Zinner from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Justin Pearson and Gabe Serbian of The Locust. Jordan does the singing.

Back in February, Head Wound City-the group featuring Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nick Zinner, the Blood Brothers' Jordan Blilie and Cody Votolato, and the Locust's Justin Pearson and Gabe Serbian-announced a new album called A New Wave of Violence. The album, produced by Ross Robinson, was written over the course of a week in January 2015. It's named after a 1982 Raymond Pettibon zine. More depth, less irony," the band said of the record's purpose in a press release. Eliminate irony altogether.
Head Wound City is different from some dysfunctional bands. They have a strong bond between band members. When the nucleus is strong, it makes writing easier because you can build off similar ideas. Thrash Zoo left me wanting more from this Head Wound City. The rest of the EP is filled with all of the above characteristics and this can leave you with a feeling of what just happened" I'm not sure, but I am sure not to forget what it sounded like. Every time I think about this album, it occurs to me it took one week.
