AC/DC were formed in 1973 in Australia by guitarist Malcolm Young after his previous band, the Velvet Underground, collapsed (Young's band has no relation to the seminal American group). With his younger brother Angus serving as lead guitarist, the band played some gigs around Sydney.

It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll). It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)" is a song by Australian hard rock band AC/DC. It is the first track of the group's second album . released only in Australia on 8 December 1975, and was written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young and Bon Scott.

AC/DC (formed in November 1973) is a seminal and highly revered Australian hard rock band hailing from Sydney, on the south-east coast of Australia. Guitarist Malcolm Young formed AC/DC with fifteen year-old younger brother and lead guitarist Angus Young in 1973. Looking forward to their return to North America in the fall. Attending a concert in a giant corporate arena is a necessary evil when it comes to seeing high-profile bands with a large stage presence, but when done right, those arena-ready bands can make you forget the hell you’re living in. AC/DC flipped that script right on its head last night when they brought their Rock or Bust World Tour to the Pepsi Center. For the Australian rockers, Hell isn’t a place to be avoided, it is to be celebrated.

AC/DC‘s detractors say the band has been writing the same exact song over and over for the past 40 years, but they miss a very simple point: It’s a fucking masterpiece of a song. Here are the results. It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Want to Rock ‘n’ Roll). AC/DC went through a lot of lean years before they broke big. They were cheated out of money, robbed and forced to stay in horrid motels – at least according to their 1975 single "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll). Simply put, this is their own Horatio Alger song.

This album highlights the polished performance and sound of the concert at Sydney's Haymarket Festival in January 1977. By this time AC/DC had released three albums, Mark Evans and Phil Rudd had completed the stable line-up. By now the band had come on leaps and bounds and Bon Scott was already a folk hero idolised by the growing army of AC/DC fans.
