I'm Your Man is the eighth studio album by Leonard Cohen, released in 1988. The album marked Cohen's further move to a more modern sound, with many songs having a synth-oriented production. I'm Your Man was recorded in Los Angeles and Montreal and employed four producers: Roscoe Beck, Jean-Michel Reusser, Michel Robidoux, and Cohen himself.

The tenor (higher) voice was Sam Moore (born Samuel David Hicks on October 12, 1935 in Winchester, Georgia), and the baritone/tenor (lower) voice was David Prater (born May 9, 1937, Ocilla, Georgia; died April 9, 1988, Sycamore, Georgia). During 1965–68 they had consistent R&B chart success, including 10 consecutive top 20 singles and 3 consecutive top 10 albums.
The older civilizations dug that black humor that was in there and that melancholy; whereas the Americans loved the obvious humor of something like Tower of Song. It was much more upbeat in rhythm and lyrically it was more hidden than it was when he was playing his Spanish guitar. Bill Pritchard, covered the title track to I’m Your Man on the 1991 tribute album I’m Your Fan. When I was at school in the mid to late seventies a lot of people thought I was weird listening to The Songs of Leonard Cohen album, but it was always about the songs and the great lyrics for me. Then a lo-fi sound with almost cheesy synths came along, still with great songs and great lyrics the album I’m Your Man. The simple synthetic backing for me just accentuates the true earthy lyrics and great tunes.
Genre: Singer-Songwriter. Leonard Cohen's advance in the 80's continues with a synth-oriented album, alignid with the latest, technological prescripts, but his voice not only remains the highlight of the album but it's more assuring than ever, Yes, you're our man. 1. 10mo. 73. A decent album from one of the most enigmatic artists of all time, this album has a very varied sound that still has an apparent 80s vibe. This is likely not Cohen's best album, but is a good introductory to his massive discography.
A stunningly sophisticated leap into modern musical textures, I'm Your Man re-establishes Leonard Cohen's mastery. Against a backdrop of keyboards and propulsive rhythms, Cohen surveys the global landscape with a precise, unflinching eye: the opening "First We Take Manhattan" is an ominous fantasy of commercial success bundled in crypto-fascist imagery, while the remarkable "Everybody Knows" is a cynical catalog of the land mines littering the surface of love in the age of AIDS.
For added flavor, there’s Turkish oud or pedal steel here, caressing female harmonies there.
