ensemble of folk dances and songs.
This is an initiative launched by the musicians, young and old. The ensemble planning began November/December 2011. Dobsonville Performance.
The ensemble performed a new program called Dances of the Slavic Peoples in Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia and other socialist countries. Spectators were amazed at how authentically Moiseyev could transfer folk traditions to the stage. But the paradox in this was that the choreographer had not even had the chance to study folklore. The ensemble went on to perform for audiences in Mexico, Asia and Western Europe, becoming a key symbol of Soviet art. Folk dance: Folk dance, generally, a type of dance that is a vernacular, usually recreational, expression of a historical or contemporary culture. It is also essential to note that people in many non-Western cultures do not themselves describe any activity as dance in the way that English speakers do. This article examines possible ways to look at and define folk dance, how various groups might conceive of their dances, and how the study of folk dance was born and developed. Such writers concluded that true folk dances were created anonymously and transmitted from person to person.
